Leaving our hut and then photos of the Tsitsikamma Village Inn, which we were very glad to reach!

This was our ‘recharge’ day with a gentle hike back out through the forest to Stormsriver village where we were checked into the Tsitsikamma Village Inn for the night. We were linking this to the Otter trail and so had left a bag of supplies at the hotel, which we stayed in the night before we started the Tsitsikamma trail.
On the hike out we both reflected how much we had enjoyed this trail, especially the feeling of being in an ancient forest. It was also really good to have had it to ourselves. However, we were looking forward to the pleasures of civilisation including some good coffee! The coffee bags we had taken were mediocre to say the least.
Very happy when we arrived at the hotel just before 11, that they were a) happy to do our laundry with same day service, b) upgrade our room at no extra cost c) let us check in early to the room. It was then off for coffee and chocolate brownie before Mike found that the cricket was on in the bar – less good was that England were knocked out of the Champions Trophy by Pakistan. However, the local brew was very good as compensation. I went on a shopping spree for candles, replacement head torch and other bibs and bobs we needed for the Otter Trail whilst Mike tortured himself in the bar.
We then sat on our Veranda in the evening sun with a bottle of la Motte Sauvignon Blanc writing up our notes of the Tsitsikamma Trail. In future I will take a little notebook with me and do my journal each day (one of the little purchases I made)
Spent the evening thinking / worrying about the Otter trail and getting our stuff together. Fortunately the weather forecast looked favourable for most of our journey.
