Hike back from Greyton to McGregor, returned via the ‘Circle Route’ towards the end of the trail. This was a more challenging path in places but very beautiful, especially by the river and well worth the effort

Enjoyed our last day of hiking along the cliffs, happy we had experienced both the inland and coastal trails in this wonderful part of South Africa.

Very happy that by chance we booked the trail in a week when we could do this hike in daylight hours with plenty of time for an afternoon river crossing. The hike is so beautiful it would be a shame to miss the coastal section by hiking at night with a headtorch!

Scott Hut to Oakhurst Hut. Shortest day with a couple of significant river crossings. Section to Elandsbos river had views of the cliffs, bays and breaking waves.

Ngubu Hut to Scott Hut. The Otter Trail booklet describes this day as being ‘probably the most diverse and beautiful of the entire trail’

Sleepkloof Hut to Stormsriver village. This was our ‘recharge’ day with a gentle hike back out through the forest to Stormsriver village before starting on the Otter Trail the next day

Keurbos Hut to Heuningbos Hut. Very special hike up through the Heuningbos indigenous forest, wonderful large old trees and ferns
